Strandloper Hiking Trail

This trail stretches from Kei Mouth to Gonubie in the Eastern Cape.

DAY 1

On Day 1, the first section of 8,7 kilometres takes in coastal forests, the Kei Mouth Shell Museum, the platform on Signal Hill, the Ferry, Lover??s Lane, sandy beaches and rocky ledges. Overnight at the Pump House.

DAY 2

Kei Mouth to Double Mouth (7km). Fairly rough going over grass, boulders and sandy beaches. Morgan Bay cliffs rising to 57 metres high. Overnight at Double Mouth chalets.

DAY 3

Double Mouth to Cape Henderson (14,5 km). Round headland from Quko estuary, famous Treasure or Bead Beach. Black Rock, Haga Haga, Pullen??s Bay and long stretch of rocky beach. Overnight at Cape Henderson Hut.

DAY 4

Cape Henderson to Beacon Valley. 13,5 km of beach backed by sand dunes. Four beautiful estuaries, middens, bird watching, fishing and swimming. Overnight in Settler??s Cottages.

DAY 5

Beacon Valley to Gonubie (14,5kms). Rocky coastline with narrow intertidal beaches. Glen Muir, Queensbury Bay, Glen Eden, Glengariff, Bulura River, Kwelera River, Sunrise-on-Sea, Gonubie.
